The Story of Immumed

Butterflies

If you have a garden and a library you have everything that you need.
Marcus Tullius Cicero
Roman consul (106 B.C. – 43 B.C.)

IMMUMED, The Journey (1963-2018)

Nothing better exemplifies the story of Immumed than the Immumed logo – the butterfly.
The fusion of two butterflies, two creative spirits: Andrew Kozlowski and Christine Kozlowski, spiraling through four incredible therapeutic stages.

Stage I - The formative stage (The egg)

The egg is the symbol of the beginning of Life – the formative period: where ideas, concepts and intentions begin to take form. Ideas of Health, concepts of natural forms of medicine, intentions of one day becoming therapists. The beginning of a solid grounding in the humanistic philosophies of medicine, where (wo)man is not just a machine, an amalgam of eventually replaceable organs, but a spiritual entity with emotions, intellect, intuition and a consciousness of the existence of greater energies outside his/her realm of comprehension, a certainty of a cosmic unifying energy, permeating throughout all of life: what the Chinese call Qi, what the Homeopaths call the LIFE FORCE; what the Osteopaths call the PRIMARY RESPIRATORY MECHANISM, what the Indian yogis call PRANA, what the Hippocratic Greeks called PNEUMA.

Stage II – The famished larva

The years of study; years of accumulating knowledge, University Degrees (undergraduate, graduate), Ottawa U., Carlton U., Mc Gill University, Université de Montréal; years of study of Hatha Yoga, (Vishnu Devenanda), Naropa University, Yosodra Ashram – Travels to India, Nepal, China, France, Germany, USA; diplomas and advanced certifications in Naturopathic Medicine (ND), Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Homeopathic Medicine (HMD), Auricular Medicine, Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Medical Qi Gong, Tuina/Zheng gu, Gua Sha and Moxa).

Intense study of computerized laser therapy, computerized electroacupuncture and computerized homeopathy, an unending process of learning, integrating and putting into practice.

Stage III – The chrysalis, the cocoon

Education melding with clinical practice; the blending of Eastern and Western Medical philosophies and practices; a period of reflection, introspection, and consolidation; of the realization that natural medicine was to be more than just a profession; it was to be a vocation, a privilege of serving others, and by doing so serving the inner self, and the consciousness of making a tiny difference, and the world a better place.

Stage IV – The butterfly – Immumed the Emergence

A beautiful treatment space, a Heritage stone building (1840) on the waterfront in historic Old Aylmer – Nine thousand some patients from across Canada and the US, but mostly from Gatineau and Ottawa, multiple integrated disciplines, exceptional service, state of the art technologies and a highly educated and dedicated staff. Immumed, the therapeutic Northern star guiding travellers through the turbulent and dangerous waters of pain and illness, to the safe haven of peace of mind and soul, and, Health for Life.
