Laser Acupunture

Laser therapy on a neck

Low level laser therapy (L.L.L.T.) also known as photobiomodulation (PBM) is a low intensity light therapy whose effect is photochemical and not thermal, that is it gives off no heat. Laser light stimulates the underlying tissues and triggers biochemical changes within the cell that can be compared to photosynthesis in plants, where light (photons) hitting the leaf of the plant are absorbed by photoreceptions, thus triggering biochemical changes.

Multiple clinical trials have shown that low level laser therapy reduces inflammation, reduces blood stasis, reduces pain, promotes tissue repair and wound healing, increases vascular regulation and collagen synthesis, promotes the healing and regeneration of skin, nerves, tendons, cartilage and bones. This makes laser therapy particularly effective for chronic conditions such as:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Neck and back pain

  • Epicondylitis

  • Tendonitis

  • Carpel tunnel syndrome

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Post herpetic neuralgia

  • Trigeminal neuralgia

  • Diabetic neuralgia

  • Dental sensitivity

  • Pain from orthodontic procedures, dental surgery, and post-surgical pain

  • Pain from trauma, surgery, and sport injuries

Laser therapy has also proven very effective in dramatically speeding up the recovery from:

  • Stroke

  • Myocardial infraction

  • Degenerative nerve disease

  • Traumatic brain injuries (concussions)

  • Spinal cord injury

  • Peripheral nerve injury

  • Degenerative central nervous system disease
